In an online survey of 52,000 people, 43 percent of women and 23 percent of men admitted they were interested in cosmetic surgery, liposuction, or both. Another 20 percent said they “might” be interested. “This isn’t about poor body image,” says lead researcher David Frederick, a UCLA graduate student in psychology. “There is so much pressure, especially on women, to be thin and beautiful and to look younger.”
